Hang On!

1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Is there a situation in your life which seems to be so overwhelming for you?

I want to encourage you to be strong and hang on. You may have messed some things up, but don’t let that dominate you. Stand up from the ashes of yesterday’s failure and set your gaze on your glorious future. Have bold and great expectations in every area of your life. God is not dwelling on your past to give you a future. He is “I AM”. Your past shouldn’t be your master or your limitation. Declare to yourself that the failures and mistakes of yesterday wont defeat you today.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (KJV)

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

This is quite a remarkable statement. When you consider the fact that this statement was coming from the Apostle Paul amidst intense persecution and trouble, then you’ll understand why it’s such a remarkable statement. He was seriously persecuted for preaching the gospel, but when you study his life, you’ll discover that the more persecution he faced, the bolder he got about preaching. Paul never allowed what he was going through determine the fate of his vision. He kept God’s Word as his focus. This principle was reiterated in:

Hebrews 12:2,

“Looking onto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”

To maintain your focus on your dreams or vision, you need to talk the Word and maintain your confession.

If you don’t talk the Word, the systems of this world will overwhelm and drown your dreams. There’re many “have-beens” in our world today; they’ve been this-and-that, but they aren’t anymore. Many of them don’t know what to do. But here’s what you must do: fix your gaze on the Word and you’ll never lose relevance in your world.
